Since I was awake at 3 o'clock Tuesday morning , and couldn't get back to sleep (medicine seems to only succeed at confusing my body), I decided to sit down and read my Bible. Usually, if I read at a time like that, I fall back to sleep eventually. Well, I made it through both epistles of Peter, all three epistles of John, and the epistle of Jude. Still wide awake.

I did want to share with you something very interesting I discovered. Notice how the time changes:

The last times:

"who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." - 1 Peter 1:5

"He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you" - 1 Peter 1:20

Still looking forward to the last days:

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come." - 2 Timothy 3:1

Last days arrive:

"God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds [aion, lit. "ages"]." - Hebrews 1:1-2

"Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days." - James 5:3

"But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers." - 1 Peter 4:7

"Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the apostles of your Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."" - 2 Peter 3:1-4

The last hour:

"Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour." - 1 John 2:18

"But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit." - Jude 17-19
